The actor, who plays Gaz Wilkinson, said the cast and crew will reunite to shoot the eighth season later this year.
He told Metro: "Every series ends with what seems like the very final episode, just in case the cast don’t want to do another one. We film it from November to January, which is a dead period in television so we’re all around to do it."
He admitted that filming a live episode in the last series had been a hair-raising experience, saying: "After the event it was great but beforehand we were terrified. They made me juggle flaming batons and then eat fire. I burnt the s**t out of my tongue. Then I had to ride a mini motorbike.
"Susan Nickson, the writer, wanted to us to do as many difficult things as possible during the live show to see what would go wrong. Kathryn [Drysdale, who plays Louise] had to do tongue-twisters and the other girls had to do various things."
Mellor also revealed that his wife is expecting their second child in June.
