The co-creator of The Street has revealed that work is underway on a third series of the gritty Northern drama.
Executive producer Sita Williams was speaking after the show won the 'Best Drama' award at the BAFTAs for the second year in a row last night.
"We are planning the next series now," she said. "We have very experienced writers suggesting stories."
Williams added that show creator Jimmy McGovern is already working on several stories for the new series. "If Jimmy feels writers have got real passion in their stories, then he'll take them on, and that's what we are doing this time," she said. "We have got two new absolutely unknown writers."
