Atkins: 'I'd love to work with Corden'

Cranford star Eileen Atkins has said that she would love to work on a comedy series with James Corden.

Atkins, who won the best actress gong at last night's BAFTAs, said she found the Gavin & Stacey star "sexy" and claimed he was one of the best comedians on TV.

She said: "He’s one of the funniest men...I find him sexy, I can say that because I'm so old there's no chance of anything.

"I’d love to be in something he’s written, I’d love to be in a comedy."

Talking about a previous meeting with Corden, she revealed: "He came to see the play I was in, and after ten minutes in the dressing room, I said, 'Oh, I’m such a mean old bitch, I haven’t offered you a drink.

"He said, 'Eileen, being in a room with you, the air is champagne'."

Corden won the award for best comedy performance, ahead of Stephen Merchant (Extras) and David Mitchell (Peep Show) at last night's ceremony.
