'Dirt' makes muted return for Fiver

Ian Hart in 'Dirt'

Fiver failed to make a mark in the ratings last night with the return of Dirt to UK television.

The second season opener drew just 89,000, or 0.43% of the audience, for the newly rebranded digital channel at 9pm.

Though easily exceeding the 2007 slot average of 44,000 (0.23%), it was far behind the first episode of season one, which drew 629,000 (2.46%) when it debuted on Five US in July last year.

Glamour's Best Dressed List 2008 - Fiver's new fashion series - could also reach only a mediocre 66,000 (0.33%) at 8pm.

Despite the two middling performances, Fiver's all-hours share yesterday was 0.65% - a significant improvement on Five Life's average so far this year of 0.5%.
