Villagers furious over ITV's 'The Baron'

By
Producers of ITV reality show The Baron have been accused of slandering the Scottish village of Gardenstown.

The programme sees three celebrities - singer Suzanne Shaw, late EastEnders actor Mike Reid and musician Malcolm McLaren - competing to be elected into the aristocracy of the village.

However, local residents have expressed anger over the show, claiming that it depicts them as "backward yokels".

Local butcher Bill Fraser told the Daily Record: "They set the village up. They told so many lies. It's a pity they tried to portray the village the way they did. They should have got their facts straight but I suppose they have to sell their programme."

The show concludes on Thursday at 10.35pm on ITV1.
