His credits included roles in Doctor Who, Upstairs Downstairs, Keeping Up Appearances, The Avengers and Rumpole of the Bailey. He also played Leonard Kempinski in Emmerdale Farm.
Archard's film roles included parts in The Village of the Damned, The Day of the Jackal, Macbeth and The Sea Wolves.
