A father-of-two who appeared on reality show Wife Swap has died of a suspected drug overdose.

Simon Foster, a 40-year-old van driver, was found collapsed in his Brighton flat on April 15.

He appeared on the Channel 4 series with wife Jane last October, but they decided to divorce soon after the programme aired.

A friend said Foster had "hit a bad patch" after the split and had ended up losing his job and home.

The couple, who moved in with Rob and Debbie Henderson, were billed as "free-spirited" in the show because they both had girlfriends.

Jane later criticised makers RDF Media Group for "goading" them into behaving a certain way to fit the required image, adding: "There's an awful lot of pressure on you in the two months leading up to the filming. I was away nine days but it disrupts your life for several months."

An RDF spokeswoman said: "All Wife Swap contributors are offered support both during and after filming and this care was, of course, offered to Simon Foster."
