'Big Breakfast' house damaged in fire

£400,000 worth of damage has been caused to the house used by Channel 4's now defunct Big Breakfast.

A fire ripped through the house, near Bow Locks in East London, at 4am Friday morning. Twenty firefighters battled for over two hours to control the blaze, which began on the second floor of the building.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said that foul play was suspected. "The building was pretty much gutted and the roof and first floor destroyed," he said. "There is no electricity or gas inside so it looks like somebody broke in and started the fire."

The house was put on the market soon after the show ended its ten year run on March 29, and was expected to go for £1m.
