Friel, Tennant are 'sexiest TV characters'

Characters played by David Tennant and Anna Friel have been named the sexiest on TV in a new poll.

Nearly a quarter of respondents found Doctor Who's Time Lord attractive, while one in five liked Friel's Chuck in Pushing Daisies.

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria was runner-up in the female category, followed by Evangeline Lily (Kate in Lost) and Hayden Panettiere (Claire in Heroes).

Wentworth Miller finished second in the male list for his role as Prison Break's Michael Scofield, with Hugh Laurie (House) and James Corden (Gavin & Stacey) also making the top ten.

Miller was voted sexiest leading male by viewers in Wales and Northern Ireland, with Michelle Ryan topping the female list for her turn as Jaime Summers in axed US show Bionic Woman.

The survey of 1,600 people was carried out by the Hallmark Channel to examine whether an attractive star keeps viewers watching their favourite shows.
