David Mitchell and Robert Webb will return as flatmates Mark and Jeremy, with Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain continuing as writers.
After the show won best sitcom at this year's BAFTAs, Armstrong said he was confident it could continue to run: "The characters never change, so it seems odd that there's a thing where you stop after a couple of series."
Andrew Newman, Channel 4's head of comedy and entertainment, said: "With its rich mix of top writing, production and performance, I am enjoying the current series so much, I can't wait until next year."
