Six new hour-long instalments of the crime thriller will air next year.
Peter Fincham, announcing his first commission since taking over as ITV director of television, said the programme was "gripping" and "had an unmistakable touch of class".
"I'm delighted that it's coming back - it'll be bigger and better than ever," he said.
The first run of The Fixer attracted better ratings than other ITV1 newcomers, including Rock Rivals and The Palace, though its audience was down to a modest 3.3m for the final episode.
