The BBC has signed a new, "exclusive" four-year deal to hold on to the television rights for the Davis Cup.
The contract, beginning next year and running through until 2006, covers rights to the home and away ties featuring the Great Britain team.
"I'm delighted to have signed this deal," said Barbara Slater, BBC head of general sports. "Tennis is very popular with our viewers and this means that we can bring them coverage of events that take place from around the world as well as on home soil. Great Britain have a World Group tie against Australia next February, so let's hope they can do well and continue in that group."
The corporation has covered GB home ties in the Davis Cup since 1998. Ratings for the tournament peaked in April 1999, when 7.8m watched GB vs the USA.
