'Popstar To Operastar': Meet the judges!
Published Wednesday, Jan 13 2010, 19:00 GMT | By Alex Fletcher | 12 comments
If ITV1's Popstar To Operastar format didn't sound barmy enough of a concept in itself, the appointment of rock music eccentric Meat Loaf and floppy haired interior decorator Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to the judging panel has surely taken the biscuit. We caught up with the pair - who had never met before Monday - at the show's launch earlier this week. Click 'play' below to find out what they said and keep your ears peeled for a very subtle album plug from Meat Loaf.

Do you think Meat and Laurence will make a good pairing on the judging panel? Leave your opinions in the box below!

What about Charlotte Church, Hayley Westernra or Katherine Jenkins who have plenty of experience in this field? It's silly having someone like Laurence Llewyn Bowen on a show like this when his specialist subject is decorating! Ridiculous.

I can somehow see the reasoning behind including Meatloaf on the panel, as he is an experienced musician and has performed in theatre, but it's still not opera. Laurence - ummm, did someone forget what his credentials are? I know he is eccentric, but contrary to popular belief, that isn't the only attribute needed for a career in music.

What the f**k is Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen doing on this? Is he going to judge them on decorating the sofa in the green room after they've destroyed something from the Marriage of Figaro? What a load of bulls**t. Surely they could get some judges with a modicum of credibility? Someone like Charlotte Church would presumably fit the bill and she would at least be able to comprehend what was required by the performers...

An old rocker and a decorator? Is that the best they could get?

Having seen Meat coaching at Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp I know he'll be great. He's a natural coach, will be straight and constructive, bring humour, and has insight into operatic singing .. he's not an operatic rock singer for nothing! :) Laurence is intelligent, articulate and witty. He's a DJ on Radio 4, and will bring a keen ear to judging. They are both entertaining and performers .. I think they'll spark well off each other, and this is one reality show I'm looking forward to!

Im really intrigued by this show - im hopin it doesnt turn out to be another disaster for ITV1 but part of me thinks its either gonna b a massive hit or a massive flop! at the moment im thinkin the later will happen!
