'Dragons' Den': The most memorable pitches - video

Published Saturday, Jul 30 2011, 08:00 BST | By Alex Fletcher | 4 comments
Whether it's just to hear Duncan Bannatyne grumbling "I'm out!", giggling at the fact Deborah Meaden never ever invests, or keeping our fingers crossed for a posho super-rich Royal Rumble refereed by Evan Davis, we never miss an episode of Dragons' Den here at Reality Bites. Ahead of the show's return to BBC Two on Sunday night, we've taken a trip down memory lane to remember some of our favourite pitches.

Reggae, Reggae
The most famous of all Dragons' Den pitches, Levi Roots became a household name and livened up student fridges across the land with his famous Reggae Reggae Sauce.

Peter Jones plays Simon Cowell
Oh Hamfatter, how we laughed. This bog-standard indie collective somehow managed to wangle a deal and some cash out of Peter Jones, who suddenly came over all Simon Cowell in the Den. Sadly, Jones's taste in music was duff and Hamfatter were last seen clogging up the singles chart at a lowly No. 71.

How to make a perfect pitch...
It was hardly the most thrilling device to ever be pitched in the den - a device to thread cables through cavity walls - but Sharon Wright gave what was pretty much the perfect Den performance with her MagnaMole invention. She won her investment and swiped away criticism from Peter Jones with ease. Awesome.

Where do they find them..?
We all love it when someone turns up in the Den and claims to have revolutionised modern science with roller skates for knees or a single glove that will improve the way the world drives. Check out a particularly stinking pitch below that really beggars belief. Flow Signals was described by Bannatyne as "the worst invention ever to be brought into Dragons' Den". We agree.

Dragons' Den's finest?
Richard Blakesley & Chris Barnardo came, talked and conquered the Den. They walked away with the biggest ever Den investment - £200,000 from Duncan Bannatyne - thanks to their genius 'magic wand' device.

Hear the Dragons roar
Let's be honest, who really watches for the inventions? What we really want is a good punch-up between two of the Dragons and that's what we nearly got when Duncan Bannatyne got all touchy about his numbers.
