There were rumours that you've been asked to do other reality shows, including The X Factor USA. Why did you choose to do I'm a Celebrity above everything else?
"Life is short and nobody knows what's around the corner, so I wanted to take a new challenge. I think the show is going to take me out of my comfort zone in so many ways and I'm really going to benefit from it. I'm going to expand, learn and evolve - and I'm excited about that. I'm excited to come out the other end and have a better understand of who I am. I think it's going to be very challenging at time and I'm definitely going to be facing my fears, but I'm excited about that."
What do you think viewers will learn about you that they might not already know?
"Viewers are going to discover that I can't cook from crap! I'm definitely not going to be a leader in that department. They will also learn that I'm not any good with snakes or bugs - and that I'm not a big fan of eating kangaroo penis. This whole situation is totally foreign to me, so it's hard to know what's going to happen. Coming from part of such a big pop group, I don't think people got to know us as individuals, so it will be nice that they can finally meet the real me. Although this is a pretty bizarre circumstance, I'm excited that people will get to know me as Ashley Roberts and not just a Pussycat Doll."
Are you concerned about being followed around by cameras for 24 hours a day?
"That's definitely something different for me, but I have committed to doing this and my head's in the game. I want to go in there and have an amazing time. I want to challenge myself and find out new things about myself. I want to meet new friends and I want to be able to tell some cool stories. I'm committed. I'm going!"
Are you hoping there's going to be a hot guy in the jungle to knock you off your feet?
"Right now, my head is in a different space. It's focusing on whether or not I can get through being completely out of my comfort zone. I've had a lot of people ask me if I'm going to find romance in the jungle. I don't know what to expect on that end."
Is it true you have a soft spot for British men?
"Sure. I'm a single lady and I like good-looking, fun men. British accents are great. What's my type? I don't think I have a specific type. I just like confident guys with a good sense of humour. I like ambitious, driven men. I like all that good stuff."
If you got scared, would you like a nice, strong Tarzan to snuggle up to?
"It would be fantastic to see a nice, strong, tall, Tarzan-type man in the jungle. We could swing from the vines and sing together. That would be awesome!"
You could sing your new single…
"I know! I'm so excited about the single. It's pretty awesome to have a new song, but it's going to be weird to be in the jungle when it's released in the UK. I won't know what's happening with it."
All of the celebrity campers have a chat with I'm a Celebrity medic Bob McCarron before they enter the jungle. Did his talk about the creepy crawlies and snakes scare you?
"Dr Bob is very nice. He made me feel very comfortable, but he did say that there would be a lot of weird things happening in the jungle. The bugs, snakes and creepy crawlies are also going to be tough to handle. That's not my cup of tea. When I see insects, my immediate reaction is to run the other way, not say hello and let them crawl all over my body."
How are you going to handle the jungle food?
"My eating habits consist of chicken and vegetables - and that's it. I'm not adventurous when it comes to food, so I know I'm going to struggle there."
What will you miss the most from home?
"I'm going to miss my dog, Cooper. He is the love of my life and I'm definitely going to miss him the most. When I landed in Australia, I was immediately stripped of my laptop and my cell phone. Not being able to listen to music is also going to be tough for me, as well as being away from all the comforts and luxuries of home."
Are you going to be naughty and try to smuggle anything in there?
"I didn't even think about that! You can smuggle stuff in there? Wow. I think I'd smuggle in my iPod if I could do that. I'd be dancing in the jungle to my own little tunes. I'm definitely going to miss music in the jungle. That's going to be tough, but I'm going to do my best. Wish me luck!"
