'Celeb' animal cruelty complaints not upheld

Complaints to the Independent Television Commission from fifty viewers saying that animals and insects were treated cruelly during the second series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here have not been upheld.
In its latest programme complaints bulletin, the ITC revealed that those viewers felt the animals were mistreated during the bushtucker trials.
In its assessment, the Commission explained: "The licensee confirmed that professional animal handlers were present on site and that they had worked closely with animal welfare organisations in making the series.
"The ITC was satisfied that suitable measures had been taken to safeguard the well-being of the creatures featured in the programme and that offence at the use of these insects and animals would not have been widespread."
