Soap version of 'I'm A Celeb' planned
Published Friday, Jun 27 2003, 21:43 BST | By Neil Wilkes
The third series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! will feature soap stars only, according to the Daily Star today.
Amongst those being tipped for the show, planned for "later this year," are former Coronation Street actors Brian Capron (Richard Hillman), Ken Morley (Reg Holdsworth) and Tracy Shaw (Maxine Peacock).
From EastEnders is Sophie Lawrence (Diane Butcher) and Roberta Taylor (Irene Raymond), as well as Sam Kane, alias Peter Phelan from Brookside.
"We want a different kind of show next time," an insider told the newspaper. "The last two series were full of telly presenters and sportsmen -- so basically viewers knew what sorts of people they were.
"Putting actors in the jungle will be different because most viewers will only know them as their soap characters and not what they're like in real life."
