"Oh my god," she exclaimed as she stumbled into the studio. "I'm gobsmacked. It was nothing like I expected - I didn't watch the last series - so I just thought I'd get pissed every day. I love all of the other contestants, they're fantastic; we're all winners.
"I didn't think I'd come this far, not after the first day when I cocked up. Jennie did that and she's the Queen to me. Never in a million years did I think I'd be sitting here. I'm numb, it doesn't feel real."
McFadden had been the bookies favourite to win ever since the departure of ex Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon. She is now expected to pocket £1 million from magazine and TV deals.
