The show's producers allegedly held crisis talks as participants abandoned the camp to take shelter in the Bush Telegraph.
Trials executive Chris Lore said: "It's the hardest we've ever been hit."
A source added that forecasts for electrical storms, strong winds and flash floods were a threat to the show's future. "This is the worst the weather has been for a series and plans are being made for all possible outcomes."
Contestant Esther Rantzen also voiced her concerns about the extreme conditions, saying: "They evacuated the camp just in time. We might have been swept away."
