The Sun reports that Swash knew the 16-year-old, who was stabbed to death in North London in June.
The actor's jungle victory will see £30,000 raised from ITV viewers' phone votes going to a trust established in his honour, which works to increase awareness of knife crime.
Swash, who played Mickey Miller on EastEnders, is friends with Kinsella's sister Brooke, who played Kelly Taylor on the BBC soap.
He said: "I knew Ben and it was terrible what happened to him. I hope any money I may have got from people will be able to make a difference. Knife crime is getting out of hand."
