The former Illinois governor was originally picked to be on the show, but was forced to back out when a federal judge blocked him from leaving the country to film the show in Costa Rica because his trial for political corruption is still pending.
"I don't feel I'm a celebrity. NBC wanted my husband on the show, and when he was unable to go, they expressed interest in me," Patti Blagojevich told Today.
"In this terrible economic time, I feel it's necessary to go to work to support my family," she added.
Patti will appear alongside Janice Dickinson, Stephen Baldwin, Heidi and Spencer Pratt and ex-American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar. The show is scheduled to premiere on June 1.
