The British presenter, who is hosting the US version of the reality show, told TV Guide that there was definitely "something happening" between the two contestants.
"[On Thursday,] by no exaggeration, there was about 50 staff, all of us gathered around a tiny TV watching a live feed from camp, just fascinated by them," she explained.
"We all love a romance! Opposites attract and they're living proof of that. You'll definitely see more. This is what's got me hooked."
Idol finalist Malakar and Montag fuelled rumours of a romance after they were filmed rubbing lotion on each other's insect bites in a recent episode. Malakar was also seen braiding the reality star's hair.
Montag joined the Costa Rican jungle last week as a replacement for her Hills co-star and sister Heidi, who was forced to quit the programme after contracting a stomach illness.
