Donnelly: 'Katie Price wasn't cynical'

ITV

Declan Donnelly has claimed that he was "sorry" to see Katie Price walk out of the jungle earlier this week.

The reality show's co-host said that the glamour model's decision to return for a second stint on I'm A Celebrity wasn't cynical, arguing that he saw signs of "redemption".

"I thought it was exciting. I wanted Peter Andre back in there as well, so they could sort out their differences. It was a romantic, rather than a cynical, decision," he told The Sun.

"I'm just so sorry she left early, because she'd taken her punishment and I think we'd have seen some redemption."

Ant McPartlin revealed that the presenting duo had discovered that Price would be entering the show at Simon Cowell's 50th birthday party last month.

"She grabbed my head at Simon Cowell's 50th birthday party and said, 'I'm going back in, what do you fink?' I told her it was a great idea, 'cos she's about seven foot tall, with all that hair, and a bit intimidating."

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
