The interior designer took part in the 'Great Barrier Reef' trial, which saw him collect stars from underwater perspex chambers.
Before beginning the challenge, Ryan said: "If I go back to the camp empty-handed, I'll be slaughtered. We've run out of all supplies. Everything is gone, even the condiments."
He jumped into the first chamber and collected one star, but the trial was stopped when Ryan smashed his nose against the perspex and had to be checked by a medic.
"Joe has had hundreds of these," he joked. "I've just had one!"
Ryan then continued with the trial, but became frightened in the second tank when he was bitten by a crocodile.
"I've never been so scared in my life," he said, before asking hosts Ant and Dec whether the creatures could kill him.
After collecting all the stars and completing the trial, Ryan collapsed at Ant and Dec's feet and began breathing erratically. He was checked by the medic again and said: "I'm totally freaked out.
"That was absolutely terrifying. I got off to a bad start when I got in the water - I couldn't see my way out. I had water in my goggles and I just swam into the end rather than get out. That was my fault and I freaked out underwater. A croc was on my leg and something grabbed on to me hard."
Ryan later described the trial as "exhilarating" and "completely challenging".
