Carol coached to win by past contestants

Janet Street Porter, who appeared in series four, and Jennie Bond, runner-up of the third series, were happy to give Thatch tips on how to survive until the end.
"Carol called me up and wanted as much advice as I could give her. I admired her straight away for asking. She's very direct, just like her mum," Janet told the Sunday Mirror.
"Carol had a difficult childhood. Both her mother and father favoured her twin brother, Mark. If she talks about those issues with the other contestants in the second week I'm sure the viewers will warm to her vulnerable side and would want to support her."
Jennie added, "Carol phoned me before she went into the jungle. My advice was that she should just be herself and people will get to like her. She's doing brilliantly. She's feisty and is managing to win the affections of lots of people. She's one of my favourites, along with Sid Owen."
