I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Now! followed with 1.88m (9.4%) for ITV2 from 10.25pm, while the main show peaked at 12.95m (48.2%) as the result was announced.
Prior to I'm A Celeb, the X Factor semi-final saw a modest rise on last week, attracting 13.85m (48.4%) from 7.40pm and peaking with 14.64m (49.6%) between 8.15pm and 8.30pm. The Xtra Factor picked up 425k (1.6%) from 9.25pm.
Strictly Come Dancing waltzed to 11.97m (45%) for BBC One from 6.40pm for the quarter-final stage of the ballroom contest, reaching a high of 12.96m (47.8%) at 7.15pm, after which Merlin's gripping two-part finale ended on a series high of 6.61m (22.8%).
Casualty and Armstrong & Miller mustered 4.33m (15.4%) and 2.17m (8.1%) at 8.40pm and 9.30pm respectively.
Earlier on the two channels, a compilation edition of Harry Hill's TV Burp nabbed 5.63m (20.7%) for ITV1 at 7.10pm, while BBC One's The Impressions Show had 4.37m (19.5%).
Elsewhere, Channel 5's best audience came from evening movie Ice Age: The Meltdown with 2.2m (10.1%) from 5.15pm, BBC Two's Have I Got A Bit More News For You appealed to 2.24m (8.3%) at 9.30pm, adding 209k (0.9%) on +1, and Come Dine with Me managed 2.35m (11.1%) for Channel 4 at 6pm.
Overall, ITV1 crushed BBC One in primetime with 39.5% to 21.5%, BBC Two finished third with 5.2%, Channel 4 averaged 3.3% (0.4%), and Channel 5 had 3.5%.
