The entertainer revealed to Jessica-Jane Clement and McFly's Dougie Poynter that he spent a lot of time with The Beatles during their early career in Germany.

"We used to have fun in Hamburg with The Beatles. I was staying with John Lennon. John used to love me. He used to say, 'Freddie you're a rebel'," he said.

Starr also claimed that Ringo Starr used to play in a band with him, adding: "Ringo played a top ten club down in London. We used to get up to all sorts of tricks."

Clement and Poynter were both impressed by Starr's tales.

"I really like Freddie," said Clement. "I really like him a lot. I've got a lot of time for him."

Later, he also spoke to Poynter about the famous 'Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster' headline from the early '90s.

Talking about the tabloid story, Starr said: "You couldn't eat a hamster. If you were to eat a hamster you'd choke. You couldn't actually eat a hamster."
