The 22-year-old actress, who played Rosie Webster in Coronation Street for 11 years before leaving last October, is reportedly going to be given permission to "sit out" the infamous tasks.
According to The Mirror, a friend of one of the other celebrity contestants taking part in the ITV reality show this year said: "It wouldn't be fair on everyone else as producers wouldn't want to take any chances.
"You have to question how many tasks she could miss."
The newspaper also quotes a separate source as saying: "People need to give her a break. A number of celebs in the past – such as Gillian McKeith – have been allowed to be exempt."
However, a spokesperson for the show said: "Helen is not excluded from taking part in any activities in the jungle."
Flanagan, who is currently dating Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair, recently revealed that she left Coronation Street due to depression, and that she felt "trapped" while working on the soap.
