The other celebrities had previously won immunity from the first vote by coming out on top in a series of challenges.

Dorries told Ant & Dec: "I don't think the public actually understand how tough, how hardcore it is. The effect it has on your body when you haven't eaten properly for two days is hard.

"I don't know what you've put in the edit but I've had some fascinating conversations. It really is important that MPs realise you need to go where people go and understand why they go there.

"We MPs complain all the time that more people vote on The X Factor final and I'm a Celebrity than they do in a general election."

She added: "I came here slightly self important. I think all MPs are like that. I come from a council estate and I never thought I'd be like that - I'm not now."

Dorries also predicted that Haye, Flanagan and Bristow would be the final three contestants on this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Brian Conley was forced to withdraw from I'm a Celebrity earlier this week due to medical reasons.
