I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! producers are hoping to sign up Paul Gascoigne for the next series of the ITV1 reality show.
The former England footballer, who has suffered health and money problems in recent months, is "seriously considering" signing up for the programme, after learning that he is at the top of a wishlist drawn up by producers.
An insider told the Daily Star: "Every year the production team prepares a list of stars they think would be great contestants. Gazza is at the top of that list - he could be a truly fantastic contestant for this year's show. It could also give Gazza the chance to rebuild his career and win back the hearts of the nation.
"However, everyone knows he's been going through a tough time and it could turn into real car crash telly if he's not up to the task. Producers would jump at the chance to get him in the jungle - it is up to him to decide whether he could cope."
Gazza underwent emergency surgery for a burst stomach ulcer recently. His drunken behaviour also captured the attention of the press earlier this year.
