Malcolm McLaren has told I'm A Celebrity... producers that he was not concerned about his fellow contestants when he quit the show.
The music mogul pulled out of the programme at the last minute, claiming it is fixed and the stars are bullied by the producers.
When asked by executive producer Natalka Znak if he was worried that he was keeping the others waiting, he said: “Baby, a lot of people are waiting for me. More important people.
“I’ve got too many professional obligations. This commitment came far too late and there was just nothing I could do.”
Znak asked him if he was scared to go into the jungle, but he replied: “To be honest with you, I don’t give a damn. I’m not scared at all.”
He also shrugged off any guilt over the contestants who were hoping to meet him, saying: “I don’t even know who they are. I have no interest. I’m not interested in whoever it is out there, I’m just not playing a role or part in it.”
Znak said: “You have come all this way for a reason and the fact that you now go, people might say that you’re running scared from the show, and I’m just being honest with you."
But the 61-year-old dismissed the suggestion, telling her: “People say a lot of things. So do I. So what? You know, I could turn around to say I’m sick to death of this, sick to death of this show, I’m going home, I have had enough. I can’t do this show. I don’t have the time, patience, inclination, passion, will, interest or excitement. I just simply don’t care.”
