The Apprentice star was placed in a coffin, which was then filled with the cockroaches and pulled up to dangle 200 feet above the ground and tilted upwards. For every minute she managed to lie down in the diamond-shaped box she would win one meal for the group.
When she arrived at the trial, Ant informed her: "This is Grave Danger. Underneath this mound is a diamond-shaped pit. We're going to raise the lid and you’ve got to get in, lie flat on your back, then we will lower the lid again. You will be in complete darkness."
Dec added: "Obviously this is a Bushtucker Trial so you may not be alone in there."
Katie insisted that she would "take it like a man", but when she was asked if she was scared, she replied: "Yes. If you could have picked my worst nightmare and really wanted to punish me this would probably be it."
After being lowered into the darkness Katie started singing to herself and when the 20,000 cockroaches started to join her she complained: "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. Whatever the frigging hell that is, I’m not liking it."
Unaware that the box was about to move skyward, the wooden case fell off to reveal the see-through perspex coffin and let Katie see that she was hanging over the ravine.
As the coffin tilted, Katie said: "Ow, well at least I’m standing on some of the little s**ts." She then started chanting and remarked: "Who thinks up this stuff you’re sick, you’re sick."
The I'm A Celeb... contestant managed to see the whole ten minutes through and was brought back down to earth.
Ant applauded her, saying: "Well done, give yourself a rub down". She then jokingly rubbed herself against presenters Ant and Dec to get the cockroaches off and explained her ordeal: "It makes me want to be sick. They really stink and then they started crawling up my bits."
Ant then informed her: "There were 20,000 cockroaches in there. I just thought I would let you know that."
