As he was greeted by Ant and Dec and a glass of champagne, Marc told the presenters: "I’m alright, but it was a bit of a shock. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and setting up relationships in there."
But when Marc was asked about his growing relationship with the former Catatonia singer, he explained: "Nothing happened between us but it is really difficult not to crave a little bit of love.
"We really had a good time together. It's a really strange scenario to meet someone that you really gel with. I didn't expect that to happen at all. I just connected with her on a very deep level."
The actor's girlfriend of two years, Sarah Matravers, had arrived in Australia but less than 48 hours later she was on a plane back to London because she was finding Marc's actions "extremely painful".
Before she left Australia, Matravers said: "I'd love to be able to forgive him but I'm so confused.
"I'm shell-shocked, so I've got to get home. I've got so much to say to him but that has to happen behind closed doors."
When Marc asked Ant and Dec if Sarah was in Australia, Dec revealed to him that she had already left. After realising what he had done, Marc said: "I want to go back to London right now…I think I’ve embarrassed myself and I’ve got to live with that now."
