The former soap star admitted that he must have hurt his ex-girlfriend Sarah Matravers through his romance with Cerys Matthews, but insisted that he couldn't help himself.
Speaking on Al Murray's Happy Hour, he said: "I fell in love with someone and that is that.
"I know I hurt someone back in England but what can you do? Life goes on and I hope she is all right."
He also lashed out at critics who have suggested their romance was a publicity stunt, saying: "I couldn't care less what anyone thinks."
Matthews, who was also being interviewed, added that their relationship was "going well".
