Friends 'fear Cerys is heading for relapse'

Friends of Cerys Matthews have expressed concerns about her decision to start drinking again, according to reports.

The singer managed to beat addictions to alcohol and heroin in 2001, after realising that she had to "change to stay alive". Matthews checked into rehab and successfully battled her demons.

However, since hooking up with Marc Bannerman in the aftermath of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!, Cerys has been spotted drinking at pubs with her new boyfriend in Wales.

"Marc is the last person she needs in her life at the moment," one pal told Closer magazine. "He's a love rat and has a history of heavy drinking. He's just not good for her. She only split up with her ex-husband a few months ago and the wounds are still very raw.

"What happens when they have their first big row or split up? That's when it'll be a problem."

Matthews recently revealed that her romance with Marc is "going well".
