The ex-soap star said that he viewed the experience as a positive one, despite the tabloid coverage of his romance with fellow contestant Cerys Mathews.
"Now I can look back and just gain from it, " he told DS. "I really enjoyed it. I laughed hard for five days and that was like a therapy in itself, that kind of tonic.
"I've met Cerys out of it and I can't complain. I had a great time!"
On the subject of the tabloid revelations regarding his break-up with actress Sarah Matravers, he commented: "I've got to take it with a pinch of salt. That's nothing to do with me, all that kind of talk.
"All my family and friends know I'm very secure with who I am, so all that kind of talk doesn't really bother me. I've had people telling stories about me that I've never even heard of, or even met."
When asked if he would appear on another reality show, Bannerman said: "I don't think so, man, I don't think those kinds of things are for me. Apart from meeting Cerys, it didn't really work out for me."
