
The ex-footballer finished in the bottom two alongside Donal MacIntyre after failing to impress judges with his routine set to Frank Sinatra's 'I've Got You Under My Skin'.
Following his performance, Ruthie Henshall had told him that she "felt nervous" watching him on the ice.
"I've thoroughly enjoyed it, it's short but sweet," he said. "I'm going to miss all the other guys. "We've built up a real team spirit and I will miss [skating partner] Kristina [Lenko]. I still want my training schedule through for next week please!"
The judges unanimously chose to save investigative reporter MacIntrye, who danced to Nickelback's 'Rockstar', with judge Robin Cousins saying that he was impressed to see him take control of his skating partnership.
Former X Factor star Ray Quinn received the highest score of the night.
Jayne Torvill opened the show with a dance sequence alongside the skating partners, with the injured Christopher Dean making a brief appearance on the ice.
This year marks the first time that the 13 celebrity skaters have been split into boys and girls for the first two weeks. The female contestants will debut on the ice next week.
