Edwards, 37, and his professional partner Darya Nucci skated to George Michael's 'Faith' and scored 16 points from the judges.
Karen Barber claimed that the Holby City star's performance was "in two halves", adding: "You have the ability, [you're] getting it together. I think you did well."
Despite Todd Carty skating out of the rink during his performance, Edwards and former rugby star Ellery Hanley ended up in the bottom two after the public vote. After their skate-off the five judges voted unanimously to keep Hanley.
"It's sink or swim in the skate-off and it's quite obvious who sunk tonight," said Jason Gardiner.
Commenting on his exit, Edwards said: "I have loved every second and despite what the judges thought my first skate tonight was the best I've ever had... I fully intend to keep up my skating."
X Factor's Ray Quinn and Maria Filippov topped the leader board this week, totalling 25 points from the panel.
