According to The Sun, the Ice Star segment of the Sunday show may be given its own slot on Monday or Thursday nights.
Ice Star, which is a similar format to Britain's Got Talent, features mentors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean searching for the country's most entertaining skaters.
"Dancing On Ice works so well for ITV they want to get as much value out of it as possible," said a source.
"They already have the studio booked but it just sits there empty for most of the week. The thinking is a mid-week show could be a great way of getting more value out of the set."
The insider added: "Ice Star is a really popular part of the show but it often gets little attention because it's crammed into the main show."
