The TV presenter, who competed on the ITV1 skating show earlier this year, suggested that producers should have followed in the footsteps of Strictly Come Dancing bosses by recruiting a former winner as a panellist.
Spice Girl Emma Bunton was recently confirmed as the programme's new judge, replacing dancer Ruthie Henshall.
Reflecting on the changes, Salmon is quoted by the Daily Express as saying: "It's really interesting because Emma Bunton did Strictly Come Dancing and now she's ended up as a Dancing On Ice judge.
"I'd like to have seen someone like Suzanne Shaw on the panel because she's won it. She'd have been very similar to Alesha [Dixon] on Strictly. When I watch Strictly Come Dancing I really respect Alesha as a judge because she has been there."
She added: "Emma is so nice. I think she'll be really like Ruthie, because Ruthie was really nice."
Dancing On Ice will return to ITV1 in the New Year.
