Jeff Brazier has admitted that the Dancing On Ice contestants are "overly respectful" towards Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

The TV presenter told The Sun that Spanish model Elen Rivas had secured her exit from the ITV1 show by criticising the Olympic champions for their routine.

"You don't upset them. You do as you are told," he said. "Everyone is overly respectful around them. Chris and Jayne have an air of 'gaffer-ness' about them. To them we're probably cattle. They see many people come through every year."

He continued: "Sometimes you see that air about them where they're thinking they have choreography to do for ten people in ten days. To be that creative over that period of time probably takes a lot of energy. Elen Rivas signed her own exit release when she said she hated her choreography. It was a bad move!

"But the further you get into it the more you feel in choreography you can give an opinion and say, 'I don't think I will be able to do that'. They are fine with it all."

Brazier revealed that Dean was 'instrumental' in choosing which of the celebrities would take part in the upcoming tour. It was confirmed last week that he would join the line up for several dates, despite not being chosen to join permanently.

"Christopher Dean has got a lot to do with choosing who goes. I got on with him fine so I prefer not to take it personally, but Isabelle's very upset about the situation," he said.

"They stuck out an olive branch and said they'd like us to cover for Vanilla Ice when he is unable to do the dates in Newcastle and Birmingham so we've got five shows in three days."
