Dancing on Ice will return with a new 360-degree studio for its next series, it has been reported.

The ITV1 skating competition will feature a seating arena in which the audience circle the rink, according to The Sun.

The Phillip Schofield and Holly WIlloughby-hosted programme moved to Shepperton Studios for its most recent series earlier this year.

The new studio saw Dancing on Ice broadcast in HD for the first time. However, it will now move back to its original home at Elstree Studios.

"Dancing on Ice 2012 will see changes as producers want to build on last year's revitalised format and interest," a source told the paper. "One of these is introducing 360-degree seating and sadly Shepperton does not have the facility to do it."

Ex-EastEnders star Sam Attwater triumphed in the sixth series of the competition earlier this year.
