The former child star is hoping to start rehearsals before the New Year in order to get ahead of his rivals, according to The People.
A source said: "Corey has been talking to ITV and has signed to be in the show's lineup for next year. Until the series begins nobody is 100 percent safe. Lots of things can change between now and January.
"Keith Chegwin, for example, has had to drop out after his accident in the rink. These things can happen.
"But Corey is very excited about the show, and has already started practising his moves so that he has a few things up his sleeve. He saw how well Vanilla Ice was received last year and is hoping he can win the public over and be just as popular."
It was recently reported that Sugababes singer Heidi Range, actress Jennifer Ellison and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter (Theresa McQueen) would compete in Dancing on Ice 2012.
Coronation Street's Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland, Laila Morse - EastEnders' Mo Harris - and Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) are also rumoured to be training for the ITV1 competition.
