The 29-year-old ski racer revealed that she had contacted Hawkes through email to ascertain whether he is recovering from his damaged ankle, reports The Mirror.
She said: "We're still waiting to hear how bad it is. I've got a lot of tips from doctors and healing tools.
"So last night I fired over an email to him and I spoke to him. He seems really down because he's put so much into this competition. We miss him."
Sugababes star Heidi Range and EastEnders star Laila Morse have both also suffered injuries ahead of the series premiere.
Meanwhile, Keith Chegwin was axed from the original lineup after he damaged his ribs and collar bone in early rehearsals.
