The Brookside actress was said to be "in agony" after cracking a rib during training with partner Daniel Whiston on Thursday (January 19).
Medics immediately rushed to the star's aid, but told her that the the injury would have to heal naturally. The Sun claims she will still perform in the next show tomorrow night (January 21).
Ellison confirmed the injury on Twitter, writing after rehearsals: "I'm actually yelping in pain when the taxi driver turns a corner! Think I may have a cracked rib!!!! Oh dear!!! X"
An insider said of the 28-year-old's accident: "Jen has been putting the hours in rehearsing this week but all the battering her body has been getting has really taken its toll and her rib just went during [a] lift.
"But she is a real trouper and is determined to dance as planned on Sunday. She is currently in a lot of pain and it will be hard for her, but she will be all strapped up. She is gutted this has happened and really hopes it hasn't damaged her prospects in the contest."
Ellison previously threatened to quit Dancing on Ice after Whiston's future in the show was jeopardised by a hamstring injury.
Heidi Range and last week's eliminated contestant Laila Morse were also hurt in training, while Matthew Wolfenden was left shaken up after dropping partner Nina Ulanova.
Range's original partner Sylvain Longchambon, Chesney Hawkes and Keith Chegwin were all forced out of DOI due to injury.
Dancing on Ice continues tomorrow at 6.10pm on ITV1.
