Anderson was first linked to the ITV competition last month, when she was said to be in "advanced talks" to join the programme.

The 45-year-old was the first celebrity to be eliminated from the current All-Stars season of Dancing with the Stars and has previously appeared on four international versions of Big Brother.

Labour peer Oona King, X Factor winner Shayne Ward and ex-England football manager Glenn Hoddle are among the names rumoured to appear on the next series of the skating contest.

Dancing on Ice, hosted by Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley, is due to return in January 2013 on ITV1.
