The returning TV judge met up with Barber for the first time in almost two years at yesterday's launch (January 3), after falling out live on television in 2010.
The pair were kept apart during the launch, with Gardiner telling Digital Spy that the only word Barber said to him was "hello".
"It's the first time I've seen Karen since we fell out," he told The Sun.
"It was frosty - but that's Karen. The grudge is still firmly in place. I don't know if we'll be sat next to each other. I guess we'd be closer to slap each other!"
Talking about new judge Ashley Roberts, he added: "I want to sit next to the glamorous one, Ashley. She's a little minx. We needed some glamour on the panel and now we've got it. She's young, gorgeous - and she's a dancer.
"So it's even now - two skaters and two dancers."
Karen Barber said of the pair's rivalry: "We all bring something to the panel. I'm sure we'll all be professional.
"Ice skating is about opinions, I stand by mine. I know skating inside out."
Jason Gardiner recently told Digital Spy that he will "not back down" from his reputation of giving controversial opinions on the show.
Dancing on Ice launches on Sunday night (January 6), when half the celebrities will perform for the first time.
