Suzanne Shaw wins 'Dancing On Ice'
Former Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw has won Dancing On Ice.

Shaw beat fellow contestants Zaraah Abrahams and Chris Fountain to take the third series crown.

Shaw and partner Matt Evers danced to 'Time to Say Goodbye' and Madonna's 'Music' before receiving a clean sweep of sixes from the judges, the first in the show's history. Her performance brought judge Karen Barber and host Holly Willoughby to tears.

Ex-Coronation Street star Zaraah Abrahams was the first contestant to be voted off by the public.

"We've had the best time. I can't even explain how amazing tonight has been. Thank you to everyone for being so amazing," Zaraah said.

Favourite Chris Fountain had no complaints about Shaw's victory, saying: "I don't mind. I've got to the final. I want to thank my mum and everyone. I want to thank my coach and everyone."

Shaw admitted she will miss dancing with partner Matt, adding: "I have loved every single second of this show. I want to thank Torvill and Dean and everyone on and off the ice."

After seeing Shaw dance to Madonna's 'Music', judge Jason Gardiner praised the Popstars winner, saying: "You are the total package and gave a champion performance. Unbelievable."

I could get through for Chris, and voted twice! Was totally gutted that he didn't win! How could the cry me a river routine not get straight 6s. Anyway I'm going to see them on tour, wasn't until he said he was going, and will vote for him then. Fantastic series! Much better on a Sunday night, didn't see the previous series as was usually out on a saturday night, am hooked now!

What people seem to assume when they say fix is that everyone who voted on the final actually saw the whole series; but remember, the final itself had much higher ratings simply because it was the final than any other episode before. So, a lot of people who voted only tuned in to see a final and had not been following the weekly progress, so they would not know how Suzanne and Chris had performed before. So, a lot of people actually voted based on what they saw ON THE NIGHT, not based on anything that had gone before because they had NOT seen it. So, if Suzanne skated better ON THE NIGHT (which she did), and that is what a lot of EXTRA viewers saw, the ones who were only tuning in to watch a FINAL, if she had NOT won, it would have been a fix.

Most people going into the final expected to vote for Chris and expected him to win, but a lot of people changed their minds on the night and voted for Suzanne, because she performed MUCH better than expected, whereas Chris performed below expectations. Suzanne had a definite advantage established by her beautiful flying routine and pressed her advantage further with Music. But, despite top scores (10 6.0's = 60) the door was still open for Chris. If he could match her on the favourite dance and score 5 6.0's or give a spellbinding performance even if he did not get top marks, he would still have won. But his Cry Me A River did not blow people away as Suzanne's Music did, and had a very visible mistake. Basically, it was a poor choice of programme, and if Chris had done Vida Loca and perhaps added a jump, he might still have won. But by the time they got to dance Bolero, the public had already chosen Suzanne as the winner, mainly because her Music was considerably better than his Cry Me A River. They would have forgiven Chris his clumsy flying as they did Kyran last year (remember Clare Buckfield beat him in the final on the judges scores but lost out to him on the public vote) if he produced something special in his favourite programme, but he was below par. By Bolero, it was all over, and people generally had little tyo choose between Chris and Susanne's. Suzanne's Bolero was actually the least good of all her programmes on the night but she had already won.

I agree with those of you who say that suzanne skated better on the night, but how can we forget Chris's amazing performance each sunday throughout the competition? Suzanne was also amazing but I think the majority of the scores each week prooved who the favourite was so surely the final voting must have been fixed. Also, it was hardly fair that Fountain had to do the first dance of the night in the air. It is clearly meant to be the woman in the air and the man supporting her on the ice. I would like to point out that the TV times that week had Chris, Suzanne and GARETH as the three finalists on the front page. Fixed? I think so!

it was good, but chris definitely deserved to win.
Lou, on March 20th, 2008
as for it being a fix do you really think itv would risk fixing the competition after everything thats gone on with the phone line competitons, and why would they fix the show for suzanne its not like they get anything from it its not like x factor when they get a record deal suzanne just wins the trophy and probably gets more money but itv don't get anything from it at all shes not on a contract with them to be an ice skater now so why would they risk fixing the competition, people saying this are just sore losers and they can't get over the fact that chris was beaten i suggest they just get over it theres no point in this its quite pathetic.
Lou, on March 20th, 2008
there was no difficulty in voting for chris because i rang it myself an got through, a possible answer for this could have been that the phone lines were actually busy at the time the people who couldn't get through called that does happen you know, and i believe that suzanne was the worthy winner of the night did chris recieve straight sixes from the judges no so that evidently proves that the judges who have the professional opinion thought she was the better skater. and as for the fact shes had dance training well chris has had ice hockey training so it was a fair final between the two of them wasn't it they both had an advantage ovr one another.

I totally agree with Genna from Dundee. Every time you saw Phillip Scholfield he was standing in front of Suzanne supporters. It was set up to influence the voters. I wish one of the news papers would analysis how much they showed her supporters against how much they showed Chris's. It would be interesting. Oh I thought subliminal advertising was illegal?? but not on voting shows maybe.

FIX FIX FIX FIX FIX!!! I knew before the final had even started that they had picked suzanne to win, its not right Chris was amazing the whole way through from the first show to the last. The judges were extreamly harsh on Chris in the final I dont understand the judges are meant to be professionals how could they not take into consideration that chris had to skate, dance and do all the lifting, as for the flying Chris basically had to do that all him self were as suzanne just got chucked around by her partner. I also cant understand why juge Jason Gardiner was aloud to slate Chris fountin over the radio and in the news papers saying how he had an advantage because he plays ice hockey and that he doesnt deserve to win but nothing was said about Suzanne dancing all her life. Again I thought the judges were meant to know this sport, because judges in case you hadnt noticed hockey skates are nothing like ice skates so ill say it again the show was just one big FIX! Chris you are amazing and the true champion!!!

Suzanne skated the best and got the best marks - but let's face it - Chris's performances were more inventive, more entertaining, and he was just plain fun and exciting to watch. Sorry - but as far as I'm concerned, although Suzanne skated better Sunday - Chris was better throughout the series and deserved to win more. Suzanne has also made digs about Chris having an unfair advantage which, for me, sounded like jealousy and sour grapes. I feel it was fixed and Chris definitely should have won in my eyes (and so did the bookies by the sounds of it)
Pete, Manchester, on March 18th, 2008
Suzanne was the best in the final, with a great flying programme and also great favourite (Music), but was only slightly better at the Bolero than Chris; but in total, she won. Chris was the better technical skater, but she was the better ice dancer and had superior presentation, which was what mattered in the end. But Suzanne had only got really good in the semi-final when she did Eternal Flame, because she showed off her poise and elegance. Chris had been better than her up to that point, but she overtook him in the final. Also, he was the favourite and was under pressure, but she relaxed more because she thought she had no real chance of winning. Compare what happened to last year with Clare Buckfield and Kyran Bracken, very similar situation (except Kyran is a better ice dancer than Chris, though not as good a technical skater). Clare won the final but lost the public vote. Suzanne seemed genuinely surprised and shocked to have won, and Chris seemed genuinely shocked and disappointed to have lost. But last year Clare was not at all surprised when Kyran won, and Kyran seemed to have expected to win despite what happened in the final. What won for Suzanne was her better ice dancer and better presentation, with superior poise, elegance and grace. Chris was doing more difficult stuff technically, and was much faster, but this counted against him because what he did was often too fast for the public to appreciate; whereas Suzanne signposted and presnted everything she did at a speed the public could take in. She definitely won on the night, but it's a surprise the public voted for her. Was it a fix ? Last year no-one complained about Kyran winning. (or did they ? Not that I remember.) Was Chris better throughout the series ? Yes. And Suzanne only got really good near the end, but Chris' level of performance as far as presentation is concerned, remained more or less the same. Suzanne made a greater improvement.

ITS A FIX .no one likes her she only none as darren day ex fluff .at least criss was entertaining and had likabilty factor
Louise, Staffordshire, on March 18th, 2008
Voting is just a waste of money full stop!! Who gets the money for the votes anyway? I didn't even bother to try because I wasn't sure if it would be fix or not, regardless of who won. In my opinion, I think that they both skated extremely well and admittedly, Chris has been excellent throughout the whole series and attempting a jump that has never been done on the show which was highly impressive. On the night of the final though, I feel that Suzanne only just pipped him at the post - it was a very close competition and my decision was very split as to who I think was the best. I'm pleased with the result but if Chris had won, I would have been pleased as well - the right competitors were in the final and I think that was all that mattered. Congratulations to both Chris and Suzanne for doing so well. I very much look forward to seeing the tour, I'm going to see it in Manchester in May!!
deanne, on March 18th, 2008
what a fix .who would vote for her shes only a dirty ex of darren day .criss was entertaining and has a likability factor she has nothing
Barry, on March 17th, 2008
Yes it may have been a fix but when will people learn not to put moeny into these competitions cause so many end in controvery, stop voting if you think they are fixed. I will never vote again after ITV's handling of all there phone lined competitions all a fix in my thoughts but I wont cry over I will never vote again when the money drys up then maybe they will run a fair competition.
Paul, Aberdeenshire, on March 17th, 2008
tried 12 times only got one vote in for chris. (line was busy, then the number no longer existed and then high volume) My girlfriend managed to regester 5 votes and had no problem voting for suzanne. I feel robbed...
