'Dancing on Ice' week four - live blog

We're going retro on tonight's Dancing on Ice, as the celebrities take to the rink for their very own school disco.

The nine remaining 'famous' faces will be hoping to win over both the judges and us as they don peaked caps and pleated skirts (shudder) and vie for our votes.

Expect embarrassing outfits, dodgy moves and hopefully loads of cherryade and sausage rolls as Digital Spy guides you through every step (should that be stumble?) of the way…

20:56Ooh, Pip is trailing "The Leveller" for next week. Sounds like a ride at Alton Towers, but apparently it's a 'thrilling' new element to DOI. To find out what that's all about, and to see which skating muppet will be leaving next week, join Digital Spy back here on Sunday! Thanks for sharing in the hijinks, and hope you enjoyed it. Goodnight, all!

20:53With three votes to one, Keith survives to skate another day and Anthea is sent home!

20:50Keith Chegwin and Rihanna is one of the unholiest of mixes. God help us all.

20:49Anthea is wearing one of Pammy's cast-offs, which obviously isn't a good omen. Although I have to say, that was pretty good! And not a dislocated shoulder in sight...

20:47Hmm, so who do you think will be - in Schofe's words - "expelled"? Keith seems to be DOI Teflon, and Anthea isn't really that good. I'm thinking Anthea might be off home!

20:46Gareth and Luke are the final ones through to next week, leaving Anthea and Keith in the bottom two!

20:45As are Joe (yes!) and Matt...

20:44Shayne (who looks disproportionately happy) is also safe to skate another week...

20:44The first through is Samia, followed by Beth...

20:4315 minutes into the results show, and we finally have some results! Rejoice!

20:42

20:39For diehard DOI fans, the 'required element' thing is missed this series. At least with that thrown in the mix, this show could purport to be all about skill and the best skater. Throwing in dubious 'themes' like this means the show loses (even more) credibility. Just saying.

20:36Why is Samia's mum becoming the new Maloney's nan all of a sudden? We haven't heard from any other relatives this week, so why has she got her beak in? Weird.

20:35Just a note to the producers: they should take wardrobe tips from Deal or No Deal. When that show does a theme, it really ruddy goes for it; compulsory outfits for all (judges, presenters), more silly props everywhere, etc, etc...

20:33Can't help but feel as though the 'theme' would have been aided by some tacky school-ish costumes, the likes of which are normally seen in the student bar on fancy dress nights.

20:31Anyway, back to the ice!

20:30Welcome back, hardy DOI fans! Did you have a nice break? I have to admit I was reduced to watching some vintage You've Been Framed on ITV2 ahead of this, which I think just illustrates how naff, on the whole, primetime telly is now.

19:48And are you as disappointed as I that nothing by Black Lace ('Agadoo', 'Superman', 'I Am the Music Man') played a part in tonight's soundtrack? I might put Family Fortunes on mute and listen to a mash-up for the next 45 minutes to get me in the mood for part two of DOI at 8.30pm. Join us then to see who will be hanging up their tie and skating off into the sunset forevermore...

19:45Well, that was it, everyone! And no-one even threw up Rainbow Drops all over the ice... Matt is at the top of the class with 25.5, and Joe faces detention at the bottom with 16.0. Who do you think will be facing the 'Save Me Skate' later?

Dancing on Ice: Samia Ghadie and Sylvain Longchambon

© Matt Frost/ITV/Rex Features

19:41Samia danced to Spice Girls' 'Wannabe', earning a score of 23.5. Impressive. Although not as impressive as Sylvain's cleavage in that top.

19:40Up next is Samia Ghadie attempting the infamous headbanger move. To add some dramatic tension, her mam has 'unexpectedly' popped along to have a gawp. And again, in no way scripted, she tells Sylvain that she's showing him what he's let himself in for when it comes to her daughter. Hmm. Showmance of mega proportions, I feel...

19:37Is "the boys getting the brush off" meant to be a euphemism? Ahem...

19:34

19:31Todd Carty's ice skating skills are getting a bashing from Robin... And he's not even there. A retro 2009 reference...

19:30Joe is dancing to 'The Things We Do For Love' in a way that can only just be described as vaguely competent. The biggest achievement was not falling over, as he's awarded a total of 16.0 for his 'efforts'.

19:27Nobody leaves Pasquale in the corner!!

19:26Jason tells Beth she "doesn't have" a fun side. Poor lamb. Like every good Olympian, she's just focused and trying to do her best. BOO, Jason, BOO. NB: Panto season is still alive and well in January.

19:23Beth gets a total of 23.0 for her energetic routine to Steps' '5, 6, 7, 8'. Nice work, lady!

Dancing on Ice: Beth Tweddle

19:21Beth's outfit must have been painted onto her. Skimpy doesn't even begin to cover it...

19:19If DOI want a proper school disco experience, they need all the girls on one side, boys on the other (sliding on their knees), some black plastic bins dotted around, three coloured lights taking it in turns to flash, mums stood at the side and 'Mambo Number 5' blasting out. Tsk. Where's the authenticity?

19:17I've been to some right old tatty school discos in my time, but they were a damn sight better than this. There's no packets of Space Raiders, no dodgy DJ in awful waistcoats and there's actually some boy/girl mingling...

19:15Is Matt's hair tonight a tribute to A1's Ben Adams? Discuss.

19:14The first sniff of a feud between Karen and Jason has kicked off, but it's quickly dampened with Barber huffing and puffing. Boo. Does she know nothing about how to oomph ratings?! Amateurs!

Dancing on Ice: Matt Lapinskas and Brianne Delacourt

© Matt Frost/ITV/Rex Features

19:13No problem, andrewj123! Happy to help!

19:12Matt is wearing one of the most unflattering outfits we've seen on this show in a long time. Those shapeless jogging bottoms would look more at home at One Stop than on primetime ITV telly. Anyway, put that aside and he comes off the ice with a respectable 25.5...

19:11Turns out Brianne has fractured her coccyx. It's no dislocated shoulder, though, is it? Poor effort at injury!

19:09It's Matt (no, me neither) Lapinskas up next! And he's dancing to 5ive for the school disco.

19:03Gareth skates into the lead with 23.0, beating Chegwin to the top spot, as Ashley gives such non-comments as "Other than that, job honey let's go!". Really, they're just words thrown together - that's not a sentence.

19:01Gareth's outfits get more '80s as the weeks go on. Ignoring the awful wifebeater and braces combo, his skating has come on way loads. Good job, I reckon...

19:00Apparently that performance was "the best thing that's ever happened" to Keith. Suppose compared to cheggersbingo.com and the Kill Keith movie, that's not difficult.

18:58Karen explains she has been "waiting all week" for the "romantic Keith" to arrive. Erm, right. Meanwhile, Jason describes his performance as soft and smooth, and "like a dumpling".

18:57A score of 21.5 takes Keith to the top of the leaderboard so far tonight. What is going on?!

18:56How uncomfortable did Olga look at the end there? Cheggers's face was TOO CLOSE to hers. TOO CLOSE.

18:55We know the wardrobe department on this show have been recycling outfits over the years, but it's impressive to be so bold as to showcase the same shirt (ish) two weeks on the trot a la Cheggers...

18:54Keith Chegwin, "snogging someone around the back", to Michael Jackson. Just going to leave that image there for everyone to enjoy. Try not to throw up your tea, DS readers...

18:53It's everyone's favourite egg! Keith Chegwin!

18:53

18:48Is Donny Osmond really in Nottingham? If he is, that's disturbing. I hope he has a panic room nearby...

18:47Anthea walks away from the ice with a pretty naff 18.5, with Jason likening her to "a cheap bottle of champagne". At least she's champagne, not Lambrini. There's still hope for her!

18:46Nice pick, Anita Edmunds!
"atmosphere - Russ Abott..."

18:45If he hasn't got one already, Donny Osmond should have a restraining order out against Anthea. It's a bit of a stretch, but she's going to try and imagine her partner is Mr Osmond himself. The hair is where the similarity starts and stops on that front...

18:43Anthea's up next, and the most shocking thing is that there's no ad break between skates! Yikes! Have ITV been listening to viewers? There's a first time for everything...

18:42Luke got a total of 20, as he admits he has "no rhythm". Bless.

18:39If someone like Pasquale or Chegwin doesn't dance to 'Agadoo' or 'I am the Music Man' I'll be shocked. They were the funky beats going down at our school par-tays. What was your favourite school-time song? Tell us below!

18:38It's actually 'The Going Gets Tough'. The Boyzone version, obviously, not Billy Ocean.

18:37We've got the Olympian fame forgot next with gold medal winner Luke Campbell! He's so painfully young he's probably dancing to Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' or some equally modern sing-song.

18:36Jason reveals how he was "lonely" at school. Some things never change, eh?

18:32And already time for the ads! It's been ten minutes. After five I was starting to worry! Phew.

18:30And I miss Jason's flat caps more than I miss Willoughby.

18:29Can't help but love Jason's trademark pursed face as he pauses before delivering his snippy score. It's something truly to behold!

Dancing on Ice: Shayne Ward

18:27Up first is slightly-less-embittered-than-Steve-Brookstein X Factor winner Shayne Ward! He's borrowed Gareth's top from last week to give us a sexless routine to 'Livin' La Vida Loca'.

18:25So if you don't want to see Anthea Turner wearing fishnet tights (and face it, who does?) I can only recommend that Countryfile will be on BBC1 shortly. Bleugh.

18:24And, if you haven't already noticed, the 'theme' this evening is a School Disco - hence this all looking like something out of our wildest nightmares.

18:22We're kicking off with a rather disturbing routine which sees Pasquale rockin' out with a headbang or two, and Shayne Ward being dubbed as "heartthrob".

18:19Good evening, Dancing on Ice fans! Hope you've had a loverly weekend. Here we are, four weeks in, and the novelty still hasn't worn off. Yet. Hurrah!
