We're nearly there, everyone! After eight weeks, we've reached the Dancing on Ice semi-final.

Remaining famous (ish) faces Gareth, Matt, Luke and Beth are going to be pulling out all the stops and headline-grabbing shenanigans tonight as they try and make it into the final three.

Harnesses and wires will be strapped on as these four take to the skies (or that bit of space above Elstree Studios at least) for what can only be called 'Flying Week'.

So fetch the Doritos, grab a seat and enjoy with Digital Spy

20:55Well, that was it! What an eventful half hour we had. Join us back here next week for the Dancing on Ice final, as Matt, Beth and Luke battle it out to be crowned 2013 champ! Goodnight, and thanks for joining Digital Spy.

20:51Dan peering from behind Beth's leg was a bit The Shining.

20:50Well, it'd be a shame to waste the costumes, I s'pose. Although ITV could just as easily have ended it early and put on 15 minutes of ads. This is all the most exciting thing that's happened all series - aside from the dislocated shoulder.

20:47This is totally unprecedented Dancing on Ice stuff! In a bid to fill the chasm between now and Mr Selfridge, we're being treated to finalists Matt, Beth and Luke's Save Me Skate performances. It's like an unexpected bonus - at Gareth's expense.

20:46Bleakley asks if Matt is excited to skate again. He looks utterly narked.

20:44A total Dancing on Ice first, this really is quite weird. Gareth must be very unwell to not even make an appearance. Gulp. He and Tony Gubba need to lie down in a dark room with some paracetamol.

20:43Gareth is in the Skate Off! The Skate Off is cancelled! CANCELLED! There are now 17 minutes to fill. Let's all use it to go on itv.com and apply for a refund...

20:42

20:39Everyone give a cheer for the adverts... They put in more hours on this programme than all the celebs put together.

20:37Are we stalling for time as the producers decide what to do re: the Gareth situation?

20:36Karen thinks this was the best semi-final ever. Funny, that!

20:34Recap time! And it turns out Gareth is being banned from any further performances tonight... He better hope people voted for him. If he's in the Skate Off, will Chegwin shave his head, put on a Welsh accent and stand in for him by making an appearance?

20:29Oh well, never mind that! We're back on the ice now for the results with a very lonely-looking Schofield...

20:28Dancing on Ice has been deleted! Oh, it was just an advertising campaign from Virgin? Rubbish.

19:44So the leaderboard looks like this: Matt, Beth, Luke, Gareth. Who do you think will be leaving? Can Gareth escape the chop despite only performing once? Will Beth face her first Skate Off? Who knows? All will be revealed at 8.30pm when Digital Spy returns for the results...

19:40"The eyes were alive," says Jason. She spent most of that about 20 feet in the air, so maybe Jason was using binoculars to peep at her peepers...

19:38A very ethereal performance from Beth, which saw Dan sort of boarding her for a lift to the other side of the rink towards the end. She gets 38.0 - just nipping at Matt's heels.

19:34It's sad that Chegwin can't be here tonight. He was always so over the moon to even be on the ice, his head would have probably exploded with excitement if he got to fly...

19:32

19:27Jason's blown away, Karen's chuffed, Ashley orders her tea: "Salsa verde extra hot"...

19:27Jason dishes out his first 10.0 of the series, helping Matt to another whopping 39.0 tonight.

19:26"Seriously bad", says commentator Simon. I'm presuming he meant that in a complimentary way. It also turns out that Matt EVEN trained on his birthday. Amazing.

19:23Intriguing. So will Gareth still get the votes he deserves tonight? Will he end up leaving? Will he get a free pass to the final? One thing's for sure, it's bound to be completely controversial...

19:22This has suddenly turned from an entertainment talent show to the type of broadcast that the BBC put on in an emergency.

19:21Wowzers, this is a Dancing on Ice first! Turns out Gareth is in the sick room with his mum (are we at school? Bless) and he can't perform again tonight.

19:20It's good to see the physio on this show gets a big gold star on his door too...

19:18To fly or not to fly, that is the question for Gareth...

19:13'Ice-capade'! The wordplay on this programme's autocue is second to none...

19:12

19:11Karen thinks it's harder to skate than it is to smile. I disagree. You don't need a tenner and a pair of gloves to go smiling.

19:10Up next, on the ice as opposed to in the air, is Luke. It takes a real man to skate to Westlife on TV wearing a pink sequinned top. He gets a middling 31.5; his best so far, but not high enough to touch unstoppable Matt.

19:09"DamienS: Luke and Beth are in the final 4, they must've connected somehow!!" Very true! I just think compared to the likes of Louis Smith and Victoria Pendleton, the audience aren't as engaged with them.

19:06In this remake of the John Lewis ad, Jayne and Chris prove that they are not only great ice skaters but also magicians!

19:01

18:57Gareth looks like he's going to throw up live on air. Which would be not only hilarious, but another DOI first.

18:56Gareth came third in CBB, and could well come third in DOI too. He gets 33.5 for a mediocre performance. Is this really the semi-final? Really?

18:52The personalities of Olympic stars on other reality shows have shone through the screen, but I think Beth and Luke have really struggled to connect with the audience on DOI. Do you agree?

18:50Somehow managing to make his way through all that dry ice, Luke comes off with a total of 30.5 - surely making him a very strong contender for the Skate Off.

18:47Up next is boxer Luke. If he was a flyweight, he'd find this week a lot easier (sorry).

18:40Beth gets 33.5 - her best mark of the series for her routine. Judges say loads of 'goods' and 'good jobs' and yadah yah. And then Jason slams them all out of the water by calling her "dead behind the eyes". I'm giving Jason 8.5 for bitchiness, but it can't compete with saying Shayne Ward had locked-in syndrome. Must try harder next week, Jase...

18:29Also sad to see the return of commentator Simon Reed. Still no Gubba. Boo.

18:28If nothing else, tonight provides the perfect rehearsal for all those Tinkerbell and Peter Pan roles that are undoubtedly on the horizon at Christmas for this lot…

18:27Jason, reserved as ever, voices his hatred for 'Flying Week'. We're with you, mate.

18:27Matt gets a bonkers 39.0 (including three 10s) for a routine in which his blades barely touched the ice. Eh?

18:26Sure, all this flying nonsense looks good. But it has absolutely nothing - at all - to do with skating. ITV should create a seperate talent show for the wires, calling it something like 'Come Fly With Me'. Actually, I might turn the telly off and start writing my treatment for it now...

18:24Riding high on his 36.0 last week, here's Matt. It turns out the poor lad has reportedly been dumped by fellow 'Ender Shona McGarty. Surely that's not because Showmance Samia and Sylvain left week? TV producers wouldn't be so sneaky, would they?

18:21Schofe missed his calling as a trolley dolly.

18:20They are titanium! A material that could accurately describe the range of faces Beth is able to pull when she's performing on this show...

18:20The look of concern on Philip's face as he watched Gareth feel a tad under the weather was excessive to say the least. He didn't look as bothered when professional whatshisface dislocated his shoulder!

18:18As the episode starts, we get a run down of what I think we can all agree is a very mediocre standard of semi-finalists. But according to the judges, they're the best ever, have fighting spirit and are 'insert generic superlative here'...

18:16G'day, everyone! Hope we're all well this evening. As we gear up for the DOI semi-final, which will see the last four slebs take to the air (kinda), let's all spare a thought for Gareth Thomas. According to ole Pip Schofe, he mightn't be able to fly...
